BOND REQUEST FOR 2016 WILL BE A MASSIVE PARK IN SE GILBERT 
 
PLEASE ENCOURAGE YOUR FRIENDS, FAMILY AND NEIGHBORS TO MAKE COMMENTS ON THE LINK BELOW OR ATTEND THE MEETINGS.
 
YOUR COMMENTS ON THE PARK PLAN WILL DETERMINE THE COST TO THE TAXPAYERS.

The Parks and Rec board along with Gilbert Town Council are planning to build a massive park in SE Gilbert
area called Chandler Heights Basin.  This park is 272 acres which is the size of 4 of our parks combined ( Discovery,
Crossroads, Freestone and McQueen). 

Phase one is the conceptual design aspect which the Town Council approved (except for Jared Taylor and Victor Petersen) at the cost of $732,000.  They are unable to give us the total cost of the project from start to finish.
 
The cost of the entire project will be given to taxpayers after phase 1 is completed.
 
I asked Mayor Lewis if the size of the park could be scaled down and he said YES.
 
Maintenance costs are unknown.

We want your input on the design of 
Gilbert's New Regional Park!

 

Gilbert is planning for a new regional park and wants your input on the design! Residents are invited to participate and share ideas at three upcoming workshops to assist in developing the vision for the new regional park.

Gilbert Parks and Recreation is currently in the concept design phase for the proposed park located in south Gilbert. To get community input, a series of workshops will be held. The first workshop will be in January with two additional workshops taking place in February and March. Each workshop will have three session options, allowing residents to find the best time and location that works for them.

Interested residents should register online at www.gilbertaz.gov/gilbertregionalpark for one or more of the following workshops and sessions:

WORKSHOP #1: Creating the Vision for Gilbert’s Regional Park
Gilbert Parks and Recreation will be providing background information on the existing site and asking the community to help design conceptual plans:

  • Session 1: Tuesday, January 12 , 6:00-8:30pm, Perry High School, 1919 E. Queen Creek Road, Gilbert
  • Session 2: Wednesday, January 13, 6:00-8:30pm, Southeast Regional Library, 775 N. Greenfield Road, Gilbert
  • Session 3: Thursday, January 14, 1:00-3:30pm, Southeast Regional Library, 775 N. Greenfield Road, Gilbert
WORKSHOP #2: Refining the Vision for Gilbert’s Regional Park
Gilbert Parks and Recreation will provide the results of Workshop #1 and preliminary alternative consensus plans for review and comment from the community:
  • Session 1: Tuesday, February 9, 6:00-8:30pm, Location: TBD
  • Session 2: Wednesday, February 10, 1:00-3:30pm, Southeast Regional Library, 775 N. Greenfield Road, Gilbert
  • Session 3: Wednesday, February 10, 6:00-8:30pm, Southeast Regional Library, 775 N. Greenfield Road, Gilbert
WORKSHOP #3: Presenting the Vision for Gilbert’s Regional Park
Gilbert Parks and Recreation will present the alternative consensus plans generated as a result of Workshop #2 for review and comment from the community:
  • Session 1: Tuesday, March 1, 6:00-8:30pm, Southeast Regional Library, 775 N. Greenfield Road, Gilbert
  • Session 2: Wednesday, March 2, 1:00-3:30pm, Southeast Regional Library, 775 N. Greenfield Road, Gilbert
  • Session 3: Wednesday, March 2, 6:00-8:30pm, Perry High School 1919 E. Queen Creek Road, Gilbert
