Volunteers who serve on Gilbert's Boards and Commissions play an important role in developing and sustaining our community. Our volunteers dedicate countless hours every year, lending their time and talents to help make Gilbert a better place to live, work and play. Some board and commission members apply professional or technical skills, while others simply bring a passion for Gilbert and a willingness to work as part of a team. Whatever board or commission they serve on, members are making a difference in the community.
Through participation in a board, committee or commission, Gilbert citizens can become involved in their local government, provide input, and make recommendations to the Town Council.
Arts, Culture and Tourism Board
The Town of Gilbert is seeking applicants for one regular position and one alternate on the Arts, Culture and Tourism Board.
Some of the powers and duties of the Arts, Culture and Tourism board include serving in an advisory role to the Council on arts, culture and tourism issues; championing policies and programs which affect arts, culture and tourism; increasing awareness and education of the Town's rich cultural heritage, and partnering with community members and organizations to increase cultural diversity, public art, tourism awareness, and unique visitor experiences in Town-sponsored special events.

Human Relations Commission
The Town of Gilbert is seeking applicants for one regular position and one alternate position on the Human Relations Commission.
The ideal candidate has the skills to build consensus and forge relationships in the community. This candidate operates with a high degree of integrity, authenticity, and a strong sense of self awareness. He or she will serve as an ambassador in the community and with other agencies or community groups, appropriately raise concerns or awareness of diversity and equality needs of the community, and give time to fulfill the role of Human Relations commissioner. This person has a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and understands how local government intersects with other agencies in the community. This person has working knowledge and experience with different cultures and communities and is essentially always wearing their “HRC” hat, helping to bridge communication between the Town and the community.
The ideal candidate is free from biases, comfortable learning about and being immersed in other cultures and populations, and knowledgeable about and willing to work on equality issues and promotion of unity in the community. This person is willing and able to engage and build trust with sensitive populations. This person is willing to attend and represent Gilbert at special events aligned with the mission of the HRC. The person maintains confidentiality and must be willing to listen and respect differing sides of an issue and be respectful of others’ views. The ideal candidate is committed to serving and giving their time in the capacity of Human Relations Commissioner and serving with integrity, trust, and respect.

Industrial Development Authority
The Industrial Development Authority is seeking applicants for one regular position.
The Industrial Development Authority is a public corporation, incorporated to recommend to Council projects the Town should endorse for tax-exempt, low interest bond financing made available by Federal law for certain eligible construction projects. State and Federal laws restrict the types and cost of projects the Authority may finance. Members must reside within the Town limits and be qualified electors.
