Outdoor Marksmanship Threatened
BLM was sued and lost for allowing target shooting on more than 12 million acres of its land in Arizona.* So now it must hold three public hearings this month (February 2016) about what to do, take public comment, and write an environmental impact statement (ugh!) under court order. YOU can affect the outcome:
FROM BLM --
"The Bureau of Land Management, Sonoran Desert National Monument are seeking public input as they begin the process to amend the 2012 Sonoran Desert National Monument's Resource Management Plan to address recreational target shooting. BLM will prepare an Environmental Impact statement to compare several alternatives to effectively balance recreational target shooting with other uses within the Monument. The BLM is conducting a 60-day public scoping period from Jan 21, 2016 - March 21, 2016 and will be holding three public meetings in February."
