Arizona Cities Moving to Pass LGBT "Non-Discrimination" lawsPosted: 2015-06-19 Arizona Freedom Alliance 6-18-15 [Editor: despite there being very little data showing that such discrimination exists, the LGBT community is pushing cities to pass non-discrimination laws for the sole benefit of one class of people - the LGBT community. This is one more instance of CLASS WARFARE from the left in an never ending attempt to create controversy and chaos when calmer and more mature heads can sit down and work out these rare problems.] Despite having passed a Unity Pledge in the City of Scottsdale, two members of the Scottsdale City Council, Linda Milhaven and Virginia Korte, herself a member of the LGBT community, are rabidly touring the city insisting that a non-discrimination law is needed and it's needed now. When this came up on the City Council a few weeks back - against all the protocol, these two tried to get this passed without the proper procedure, hoping to get it through without anyone realizing what was up - Guy Phillips, City Councilman, had it pulled from the agenda where it should not have been. To the dismay of Milhaven and Korte, most of the Council agreed that this is not needed because there is not one single documented case that discrimination happens in Scottsdale. Again, it was pointed out to these two Councilwomen that the Unity Pledge has been unanimously passed a few months earlier as a sign that Scottsdale does not engage in class warfare. And if they intend for this to be imposed on private business, and it appears they do, this is unconstitutional. We re-read the Constitution and find nothing in there allowing government entities to interfere with the right to run private businesses as long as they follow the law like every other citizen in America. This is one more instance of the left interfering with every facet of private life. Milhaven and Korte are undeterred. They are spending their off time taking their dog and pony show around town telling groups how much this is needed. Facts bedamned! This is typical of the liberal wing of the Republican party.... just too many politicians checked off Republican when they registered when in fact, their world view is more consistent with Democrats. Now, we have the same issue in Mesa and other cities. Mayor Giles spoke at the Mesa Republican Women club this month and said that Apple along with various economic development groups such as "Visit Mesa" are encouraging this (LGBT) legislation. He stated that a study by ASU's Morrisson Institute found that 3 out of 4 people surveyed said they'd NOT experienced discrimination in Mesa. Yet here we are, facing the potential of additional regulation and controversy. Many believe the city’s draft version doesn’t go far enough to protect religious freedoms and businesses. So let's recap: WHO IS SUPPOSED TO RUN GOVERNMENTS? IT'S WE THE PEOPLE!! Politicians are charged with representing THE PEOPLE and the Constitution! Simple. http://arizonafreedomalliance.ning.com/group/arizona-news/forum/topic/show?id=6399857%3ATopic%3A66051&xgs=1&xg_source=msg_share_topic
