FL Amendment 2: Morgan & Morgan, "For the Pot People"Posted: 2014-10-27 15 September 2014 The Report Card John Morgan, the silvery haired head of Morgan and Morgan, whose slogan is “For the People,” is the major spokesman and backer for Amendment 2 that would essentially legalize marijuana for everyone of all ages in Florida. Morgan is selling the Amendment as legalizing marijuana for medical reasons, But the amendment is so loosely written, anyone will be able to buy pot if Amendment 2 passes. Former Republican Gov. Crist is an employee of Morgan & Morgan and as the now Democratic gubernatorial candidate, supports amendment 2. The true intention of Morgan to want total legalization of pot is clear in this video of Morgan addressing a Charlie Crist for Governor rally. There are quite a few young people in the crowd that obviously want Amendment 2 and Charlie Crist. The law is opposed by the Florida Medical Association, seven former Florida Supreme Court Justices and the Florida Sheriff’s Association all opposes Amendment 2. Raising concerns about public health risks of “unintended consequences,” the Florida Medical Association has announced its opposition to Florida’s proposed medical marijuana initiative, Amendment 2. “Providing compassionate care to our patients is something we do everyday. We believe the untended consequences of Amendment 2 are serious and numerous enough for us to believe they constitute a public health risk for Floridians,” Dr. Alan B. Pillersdorf, president of the FMA, stated in a news release issued Monday. Amendment 2 is on the November statewide ballot. Recent polls have shown solid support for medical marijuana in principal, though other polls have suggested a much tighter contest awaits Amendment 2 in particular. The FMA release said the association’s House of Delegates voted unanimously to oppose Amendment to at its July conference. Specifically, Dr. Pillersdorf cited “the lack of clear definitions” that could “allow healthcare providers with absolutely no training” to handle medical marijuana. “The lack of clear definitions in the amendment would allow healthcare providers with absolutely no training in the ordering of controlled substances, to order medical marijuana.” The association represents 20,000 physicians.
At a debate in Lakeland, FL Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd questioned the language used in the amendment, which specifies debilitating medical conditions for which marijuana could be recommended — such as cancer and AIDS — and adds the phrase “or other conditions” for which a doctor sees potential benefits. He said the amendment will allow Floridians to acquire marijuana for a headache or back pain. The sheriff lamented the amendment’s “multiple loopholes that’s going to create a de facto legalization” of recreational marijuana.
