Is Planned Parenthood coming to EVIT?Posted: 2014-05-16 Peggy McClain 5-15-14 Education Action Network
Since Tempe Union High School's vote to adopt a Planned Parenthood (FLASH) sex ed curriculum last week, I sense this organization may affect more childrens' lives than just those in Tempe and Ahwatukee.
David Schapira, Tempe High School Board Member and captain of the Planned Parenthood Cheer Line, is also assistant superintendent at East Valley Institute of Technology. EVIT has partnerships with the following districts:
EVIT's 2014-15 course catalogue is posted on-line. Check out page 52 describing the school's Health class:

Since Planned Parenthood now has access to Tempe students, will they have access to students at EVIT? If not now, later?
The course description is vague. "Choosing and Financing Health Services" and "Other Topics Related to Developing Health-Educated Individuals" are vague enough that anything is possible.
I honestly don't know how curriculum is developed and approved at EVIT, but I fear the avenue for Planned Parenthood is now wide open. This is an area where we need some curriculum detectives from all over the East Valley.
